Over the past decade, Lincoln County and the State of North Carolina have participated in national litigation and settlements against major opioid manufacturers, distributors, and pharmacy chains.
As Lincoln County continues to respond to the opioid epidemic on the front lines—with 136 overdoses recorded in 2024 and 145 overdoses recorded so far this year—these settlements will provide critical resources for prevention, treatment, and recovery efforts.
Lincoln County is slated to receive more than $11 million in Opioid Settlement funds over the next 10–15 years, which must be used to address the opioid epidemic. Beginning January 5, 2026, Lincoln County will open Requests for Applications (RFAs) for organizations serving Lincoln County to apply for funding.
Applications will be due February 20, 2026.
