Lincoln County Health Department was notified in the past week of an individual at East Lincoln High School who tested positive for active tuberculosis.
We are working with Lincoln County School officials and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) to notify individuals who may have been exposed to TB.
TB is not immediately life threatening nor an emergency. There is no action to be taken for individuals unless they are contacted by Lincoln County Health Department and notified of a potential exposure. Individuals who are determined to be at increased risk are being contacted for testing. This investigation will continue for this case until all who may have been exposed have been contacted and offered testing.
