(Lincolnton) Lincoln County Manager Davin W. Madden announced today that Dr. R. Carr Boyd Jr. has been named as the Emergency Services Director for Lincoln County effective January 13, 2025.
Boyd comes to Lincoln County with more than 30 years of experience that includes first responder volunteer services, paramedic experience, fire service, fiscal control and budget management, emergency management, emergency medical service management, leadership with 911, and Emergency Medical Services and fire as the Deputy Director of Emergency Services with Forsyth County. Carr has worked at all levels of emergency and first responder services which offers a tremendous degree of perspective and understanding and will assist him in transitioning in his new role.

He brings a wealth of experience and perspective that I strongly believe will continue the excellent level of services provided by EMS, Fire Marshal, Emergency Management and 911 Communications. In addition, Carr's cross-sectional experience will serve to maintain the strong relationships with our partnering groups that include fire, rescue, and law enforcement,” said County Manager Davin Madden.
