[ARCHIVED] PRESS RELEASE: Wastewater Spill in Lincoln County

On Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at 3989 Blue Dory Lane, Denver, North Carolina, in the Eastwind Cove Subdivision, a wastewater spill occurred due to a power failure at a sewage pump station resulting in a pump failure and an adjacent manhole overflow.

The estimated number of gallons spilled was 100 gallons. The untreated sewage flowed into an unnamed cove at 3989 Blue Dory Lane, Denver, North Carolina, which runs into Lake Norman in the Catawba River Basin.  The flow has been stopped and testing of the discharge site has commenced.  The Lincoln County Health Department has been notified and the Health Department recommends that all boaters, fishermen and swimmers avoid contact with the lake water in this area until further notification.
