The Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District along with a number of other supporters has a new momentum to seek funding for the Mountain Island Educational State Forest.
Funding would provide an Environmental Education Center that has potential outreach to 1.7 million people with 300,000 being school age children. Mountain Island Educational State Forest is the only Educational State Forest in North Carolina, out of seven, currently not open to the public.
