Transportation planning is a vital part of every project we are involved in. Ensuring that roads are adequate to carry anticipated traffic volumes and to plan for and coordinate new facilities are critical to the livability of the county.
The county is involved in two regional transportation planning organizations. The Gaston Cleveland Lincoln Metropolitan Planning Organization aims to coordinate planning and decision making for transportation related activities throughout Gaston, Cleveland and Lincoln counties. The NC 73 Council of Planning aims to promote the advancement of improvements to NC 73 while coordinating planning efforts throughout the corridors geography.
